چکیده

System identiication of linear dynamical systems using so-called subspace methods consists of two main steps. First, a signal subspace estimate is found. This usually corresponds to estimating the range space of the extended observability matrix. Then the system parameters are estimated from the subspace estimate. The main result of this note is explicit excitation conditions on the input signals, which guarantee consistent estimates of the range space of the extended observability matrix.

Subspace system identification

We give a general overview of the state-of-the-art in subspace system identification methods. We have restricted ourselves to the most important ideas and developments since the methods appeared in the late eighties. First, the basis of linear subspace identification are summarized. Different algorithms one finds in literature (Such as N4SID, MOESP, CVA) are discussed and put into a unifyin...

Nonlinear System Identification Using Hammerstein-Wiener Neural Network and subspace algorithms

Neural networks are applicable in identification systems from input-output data. In this report, we analyze theHammerstein-Wiener models and identify them. TheHammerstein-Wiener systems are the simplest type of block orientednonlinear systems where the linear dynamic block issandwiched in between two static nonlinear blocks, whichappear in many engineering applications; the aim of nonlinearsyst...

System Identification Using Subspace-based Instrumental Variable Methods

Subspace-based methods for state-space system identiication have lately been suggested as an alternative to more traditional techniques for multivariable system identiication. In this paper a novel instrumental variable (IV) approach to subspace-based system identiication is presented. Consistency and choices of IVs are discussed. One result of the paper is that the so-called PO-MOESP algorithm...

Consistency of subspace methods for signals with almost-periodic components

It is sometimes claimed in the literature that subspace methods provide consistent estimates, also when the underlying observed signal has purely oscillatorymodes (or the generating system has uncontrollable eigenvalues on the unit circle) but a formal proof of this assertion does not seem to exist. In this paper, we prove consistency of subspacemethods with purely oscillatory modes. A well-kno...
